Foreign steamship operators of which their ships making port calls in Japan,
   regardless of local subsidiaries, branches or representatives, or if they are liner or tramp
   operators, can join the organization. Members are free to withdraw their membership
   at any time.As of Apr. 2024, there are 17 member companies at JFSA.
   Membership is classified into the following: Regular members those who have the right to vote
   in the general assembly and the right to be elected into the Executive Committee
   and Associated members those who have no right to vote for a maximum of 12 months
   while their promotion into being regular members is being studied.
   The affiliated members are groups, corporations or individuals
   who agree to the main purport of this organization and who have obtained the approval
   of the Executive Committee to join the JFSA.
   The activities of JFSA are executed with the help of the funds generated from the annual
   membership fees of its members.
